Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night confirming they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and were in contact with the NFL.

The organization did not mention Rice specifically in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

The woman, who also did not mention Rice directly, posted a set of images on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Not on File

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, he concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
